ABOUT:

Iapetus was founded in 2010 by Matthew Cerami (Vocals, Guitars, Bass) as a solo project hoping to fuse the cinematic prog-metal of bands like Opeth, Ne Obliviscaris, and Dream Theater with the Scandinavian melo-death of bands like In Flames, Wintersun, and Insomnium. The project later expanded with the addition of Jordan Navarro (Guitars, Keys, Drum Arrangements) - who remains the only other permanent member - and who helped propel the band towards its first official EP release in 2012.

Since then, Iapetus have released two independent albums to widespread and global critical acclaim - conjuring a signature blend of prog, melodeath, black metal, doom metal, and post-metal that works to form sprawling, cosmic, and profoundly emotional compositions. They have collaborated with several world-class guest musicians from legendary bands, and are currently signed to Willowtip Records - who released their third album, “The Mother Void”, in 2026 to overwhelming praise and acclaim.
